Our History

Meridian Housing Foundation was established in 1960 in Stony Plain, Alberta when local municipalities entered into a collaborative partnership to provide housing for seniors 65 and older.
Currently, these municipalities include the City of Spruce Grove, the Town of Stony Plain, and Parkland County. In 1995, Meridian Housing Foundation was established as a “Housing Management Body” by Ministerial Order under the Alberta Housing Act and became a registered charity.

1960      Owns and operates the Meridian Lodge
1980      Alberta Rose Manor was added to the portfolio with 20 independent living units
1984      Diamond Jubilee Manor was added to the portfolio with 45 independent living units
1990      Meridian Pioneer Manor was opened with an additional 36 independent living units
1990      A 57-unit lodge was built, Whispering Waters Manor, the old Meridian Lodge was demolished
1992      Spruce Haven Manor was added to the portfolio with 30 independent living units
2007      Forest Ridge Place, a 42-unit independent living lodge, added to Whispering Waters Manor
2011      Foster Manor in the Village of Wabamun was added with four independent living units
2015      Park View Manor was added to the portfolio with six affordable living units
2019      Name was officially changed from “Meridian Foundation” to “Meridian Housing Foundation”
2019      A ground-breaking ceremony was held on October 18th for Folkstone Manor
2021      The Village of Wabamun became a hamlet of Parkland County
2021      Folkstone Manor opens with 63 affordable housing apartments for ages 55+
