Foster Manor is a 65+ residence for individuals who live independently. Priority is given to those with the greatest need for subsidized housing.

What are the room dimensions?
A:
The one-bedroom suites are approximately 700 ft², with in-suite laundry room
Q:
Is parking available, such as underground or covered parking?
A:
At Foster Manor, there is one parking space included per unit. All parking spaces have electrical plug-ins that are connected to the unit’s electricity.
Q:
Are TV and Telephone services included in the rent?
A:
Foster Manor is located in Wabamun, which lacks access to cable television. Foster Manor provides access to a shared Telus satellite dish for all residents. The installation of additional satellite dishes is not permitted.

What will my rent be?
A:
In our self-contained apartments, our rent is “Rent Geared to Income” (RGI), which uses 30% of the applicant’s income derived from Line 15000 of the current Notice of Assessment Tax Form to a maximum rent ceiling of $750.00.
Q:
Are there laundry facilities available?
A:
A common laundry room is available for resident use in each of our buildings. Machine use is free to all residents. Residents must supply their own HE laundry soap and laundry supplies.

Are there any deposits required?
A:
Yes, the security deposit is the equivalent of one month’s rent.
Q:
Can I purchase (or bring) my own air conditioning unit?
A:
All units must be approved by Meridian Housing Foundation management prior to installation.

How long do I wait once I apply?
A:
Once you have submitted your application and supporting documentation, your application will be priority rated and added to our waiting lists. We cannot estimate or guarantee wait times as it is based on priority ratings (not ‘first-come-first-serve’) and lists may fluctuate.
Q:
Can I participate in the Lodge activities, programs, or special events?
A:
Residents in our apartments are also able to take part in the Lodge events. A monthly event calendar is available from the Activity Coordinator.
Q:
Do you allow smoking?
A:
As per Provincial Government legislation, all our buildings are smoke-free. Smoking is not allowed in any resident suites or common areas; this includes cannabis smoke and vaping. The growth of cannabis plants is also prohibited in Meridian Housing Foundation buildings.
Q:
Do you allow pets?
A:
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in any of our Buildings. “Visiting” pets are welcome but long-term/overnight visits are not allowed.
Q:
May I apply if I am not yet 65 years old?
A:
Applicants must be 65 years of age or over. Exceptions are made for a couple in which at least one is 65 years or older.

Do you provide accommodation for couples?
A:
Our self-contained apartments offer one-bedroom units that could accommodate couples.
