Independent Subsidized Living at Diamond Jubilee Manor, provides seniors with provincially-subsidized, comfortable housing.

The three-storey apartment building features 44 one-bedroom suites, each approximately 560 square feet and 1 two-bedroom suite reserved for couples, approximately 855 square feet. Each unit features a living/dining area, large bedroom, kitchen, three-piece bathroom, and storage room.

Amenities include two shared laundry rooms, air-conditioned common areas, and limited parking available for a monthly fee.

Q:
What will my rent be?
A:
Rent for a one-bedroom suite will be no higher than $1,050 per month, and a two-bedroom suite’s rent will be no higher than $1,100 per month. The mandatory electricity fee is $50 per month.

What are the room dimensions?
A:
The one-bedroom suites are approximately 560 ft²
Q:
Is parking available, such as underground or covered parking?
A:
Limited parking spaces with electrical plug-ins are available for a monthly fee for residents who have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license. There are no underground or covered parking areas. There are currently waiting lists for parking in most of our facilities.
Q:
Are TV and Telephone services included in the rent?
A:
TV and telephone services are the responsibility of the resident. You can choose from any of the service providers available (e.g., Telus, Shaw, Bell, etc.). There are existing telephone and cable lines in each unit for your use. You are responsible for connecting, disconnecting, and paying for your own services.
Q:
Are there laundry facilities available?
A:
A common laundry room is available for resident use in each of our buildings. Machine use is free to all residents. Residents must supply their own HE laundry soap and laundry supplies.
Q:
Are there any deposits required?
A:
Yes, the security deposit is the equivalent of one month’s rent.
Q:
Can I purchase (or bring) my own air conditioning unit?
A:
All units must be approved by Meridian Housing Foundation management prior to installation. You will be invoiced for an additional surcharge of $60 per year.
Q:
How long do I wait once I apply?
A:
Once you have submitted your application and supporting documentation, your application will be priority rated and added to our waiting lists. We cannot estimate or guarantee wait times as it is based on priority ratings (not ‘first-come-first-serve’) and lists may fluctuate.
Q:
Can I participate in the Lodge activities, programs, or special events?
A:
Residents in our apartments are also able to take part in the Lodge events. A monthly event calendar is available from the Activity Coordinator.
Q:
Do you allow smoking?
A:
As per Provincial Government legislation, all our buildings are smoke-free. Smoking is not allowed in any resident suites or common areas; this includes cannabis smoke and vaping. The growth of cannabis plants is also prohibited in Meridian Housing Foundation buildings.
Q:
Do you allow pets?
A:
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in any of our Buildings. “Visiting” pets are welcome but long-term/overnight visits are not allowed.
Q:
May I apply if I am not yet 65 years old?
A:
Applicants must be 65 years of age or over. Exceptions are made for a couple in which at least one is 65 years or older.
Q:
Do you provide accommodation for couples?
A:
Our self-contained apartments offer one-bedroom units that could accommodate couples.
