Q:
Why do I need to have a medical assessment to apply?
A:
To live in a lodge, you must be functionally independent. This means being able to manage daily tasks and move around independently or with a mobility aid such as a cane, walker, or wheelchair. The medical assessment helps us make sure that lodge living is a good fit for you.
Q:
Do you have medical staff onsite?
A:
We do not employ medical or care staff. Residents may arrange community support services, such as Home Care, for additional support if needed.
Q:
Can you accommodate special diets?
A:
Accommodations may be made for diabetic meals and doctor-confirmed allergies such as celiac. However, no other specialty diets can be accommodated. You may choose what you would like to eat based on the available options at each meal.

Are there social/leisure activities?
A:
We offer many social activities for residents, such as fitness programs, arts and crafts, music events, games, social gatherings, and outings. A monthly event calendar will be available in activities area or from our Activities Coordinator.

Can family and friends attend activities or special events?
A:
Friends and family are always welcome at the lodge. We host special events like barbecues and parties for everyone to enjoy. A monthly event calendar will be available from our Activities Coordinator.

Are family and friends allowed to stay overnight?
A:
Guest suites are available onsite for families and friends to rent. To learn more about renting one of the suites, contact the front office.
Q:
Are wheelchairs or electric scooters allowed?
A:
Non-electric and electric wheelchairs are allowed inside the lodge. Scooters are not allowed indoors, but can be used outside. Underground scooter parking is available for an additional fee.

Can we drink alcohol?
A:
You can drink alcohol that you purchase in your suite, but not in common areas or outside. The lounge serves alcohol for purchase onsite that must be consumed within the lounge.

Do you allow smoking?
A:
All of our buildings are smoke-free and smoking is not allowed in any resident suites or common areas. This includes cannabis and vaping. Cigarette smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking areas (indoors and outdoors). The growth of cannabis plants is not allowed in all Meridian Housing Foundation buildings and properties.

Are there laundry facilities available?
A:
Our lodge has a free laundry room on each floor for you to use. You will need to supply your own HE laundry detergent and other supplies. We also have a personal laundry service available, which you can use for a monthly fee.

Can I bring my pet?
A:
Visiting pets are welcome, but long term/overnight visits are not allowed.

Is parking available?
A:
Both surface and underground parking spaces with electrical plug-ins are available for a monthly fee for those who have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Underground scooter parking is also available for a fee.

Are there any deposits required?
A:
Yes, a security deposit equal to one month's rent is required, plus a $100 refundable deposit for an emergency medi-pendant.

What is included in the rent?
A:
Your rent includes a mandatory service package that includes three daily meals, three daily snacks, light housekeeping, activities, access to all common areas and recreational spaces, emergency medi-pendant, 24-hour non-medical staffing, and night checks.

Are TV, internet, and telephone services included in the rent?
A:
TV, internet, and telephone services are your responsibility. You can choose from any service providers available. There are existing telephone and cable lines in each room and you are responsible for connecting, disconnecting, and paying for services.

Are meals included?
A:
Three meals and three snacks a day are included as part of the mandatory service package at the lodge.

Q:
Will my suite be furnished?
A:
Suites do not come with furniture, but they include window coverings and appliances including a microwave and refrigerator. You will need to bring your own furniture and decorations. All personal furniture should be clean and in good repair. The amount/size of the furniture must not cause a safety, fire, health, or housekeeping hazard.
Q:
What does functionally independent mean?
A:
Being functionally independent means, you can take care of your own daily needs and interact well with others. You are expected to: keep your suite clean and tidy (light housekeeping included); treat other residents and employees with respect; follow the rules as outlined in your lease; take care of your medications (alone or with assistance from Home Care); take care of your personal hygiene (alone or with assistance from Home Care); and, move safely around the building (with or without a mobility aid).

Do you provide accommodation for couples?
A:
Horizon View Lodge has one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites which may be a suitable option for two individuals.

Can I apply if I am not yet 65 years old?
A:
You must be 65 years of age or older.
Q:
What sizes are the suites?
A:
The lodge has studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites ranging in size from 365 to 789 square feet. Each suite includes a three-piece bathroom and kitchenette.
